How do you survive a COVID holiday season when avoiding everyone like the plague..? Maybe this is all a practice in boundary setting?

No new blog posts but some other projects in the works, hopefully to be reported in the next pass. I was signed up for two open mics recently but had to drop out of one. The other one has a recording. About 6 minutes into and opening the program, I read a short piece for the Cultivating Voices post-election open mic.
Not something I can take credit for, but our wedding photos are featured in the eyeCatchLight Photography blog. You can even see the Legend of Zelda-inspired cake I made - after I vowed I would never make a wedding cake for anyone, including myself!

Hey, what gives, no new recipe either. I wasn’t entirely pleased with the recipe I found for the pumpkin chiffon cake (above) for my grandma’s birthday last year. Right now, I’m trying to get creative with the back stock of components in my freezer. That’s of course not including the new batch of orange-tinged dumplings with a butterscotch butternut squash wrapper and turkey filling.
Pumpkin themed items I would eat:
Pumpkin Nemesis: Basically sounds like a crustless pumpkin pie for your filling fiends.
Pumpkin Cheesecake with Pecan Crust: Because Irvin said it is not super sweet!

Cat on a cold shed roof! Regarding the public health orders not to gather for the upcoming holiday season, Oren is probably in the minority opinion in that he has never been happier. As an indoor cat with some outdoor privileges, he has a greater possibility of being let outside when the humans are home more. He’s clearly a very happy cat when he gets more outside time, even if he stresses his humans out when he climbs the shed and threatens to jump into the yard next door. Truthfully, he is probably extra happy when he gets bribed down with cat treats.
How I’m Keeping Afloat with All the Current Events
Attending
Annual Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Sunrise Gathering on Alcatraz Island | 11/25 Facebook Livestream and 11/26 KPFA online | both @ 6-8am PST: I’ve wanted to attend this {Un}Thanksgiving Day event in person for years. Luckily, or maybe I’m just finding this out this year, the event is now streamed live.
Run to Feed the Hungry | Virtual but benefits Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services: Apparently, it’s not only the largest race held in Sacramento but also the largest Thanksgiving Day race held in the entire country.
Listening
State of Food Insecurity | Capital Public Radio: Haven’t listened to this yet, but relevant to the Sacramento community and the rest of the U.S.
Intersections of Indigenous and African Foodways: A collab discussion between NYU's Food and Racial Equity (FARE) Collective, and Wagner Food Policy Alliance (WFPA).
Supporting
Valerie and Andrew Louie Support Fund: Sharing on behalf of a friend whose aunt is hospitalized due to COVID.
Postcards to Georgia Voters for U.S. Senate Runoff Race!: Just because the presidential election is over doesn’t mean the work is complete! This time around I signed up to send fifty postcards and fortunately shared the work with friends.
